frostfox272 Extremely good album. I love the variety of tones that come with each song and its contextual background, making each one unique and, as always, a pleasure to listen to on repeat to keep up the pumped-up feel that this album gives thanks to Kuka's unique style of music. Favorite track: Hour Loss.

anthoauxey I love art with a lot of meaning behind it and, from the description of the album to the sound of each track themselves, Centience might be the epitome of that. This album covers broad variety of feelings and sounds, all with Kuka’s iconic sound. Every second of Centience is brimming with depth and meaning, even some familiar motifs! May very well be one of my favorite albums of all time. Favorite track: LOL'ed.

Tanka I think this is the best album ever and I'm totally not biased. Favorite track: Deadline.

This release comes with a few exclusive items, mainly a scrapped song for this album called "GUNSLINGER," which didn't make the cut due to its energy being hard to transition into. Still a banger though.

about

"Centience" is a variety instrumental album featuring prominent usage of samples from different video game sequences, as well as the use of freeware to create these tracks. It is currently a work in progress.

Throughout this year I found the trajectory of my life swing widely around to what I had been used to. Painstaking semesters to finish up my BA, followed almost immediately by a sudden move out to live with my current partner and steering clear of some old family. I had chosen to do something unfamiliar for me in the hopes that I could find a better life where I'm staying, and while I can't say for certain that this is the best circumstance financially speaking I am much happier now being here with him.

Each track in "Centience" was made throughout the year, with major emphasis on events that happened to affect the mood of my compositions:

- Snowday starts off this album with its inception back in March '23, as it was created upon the first breath of cold drafts and crunchy snow within New Jersey. Somewhat of a harsher track, as cool as the snow was it caused numerous problems with my car, haha.

- Hour Loss continues off of Snowday. I attempted to pace the sections based on the Splatoon 3 turf battle timings which was pretty interesting to say the least. Lotta Mario Kart Wii samples relied on for this one.

- Deadline was conceptualized amidst a heavy semester (literally was taking an exam, took a quick break to make its melody, aced exam, etc. etc.) and has become a pseudo-theme for myself. Something about its construction, story, and instrumentation was just reflective of what I vibed with. Can't go wrong with the quad-bump of dotted halves (TAN-KA-KU-KA!)

- Limber De Koko is sugar hype. That's what this track was. It's got a little modern boricua influence.

- Bagabo was the product of growing concerns. It had become much harder to focus work into anything that I touched up on, whether that was art, game dev stuff, music, whatever. Mirrors nicely with Deadline.

- SRS'ed and LOL'ed are two halves of the same melody that was originally intended as a continuation of Hour Loss. However, by the time I could actually figure out how to arrange each piece there were two concepts I landed on. SRS'ed is more formal, intended to be the straight man and consistent. LOL'ed was consistently inconsistent, a dive that starts off goofy but then leans towards a more kindhearted tone. This track may end up being one of the last I produce within "Musescore 3" in favor of more nuanced programs.

- Quantum is the "NULL" track of this album. I like to associate some of the songs I've made prior to specific OCs (Deadline is linked to Tanka, for example), and given this OC is a combination of Leeds (Tanka) and Kuka their associated theme combines "Lost Not Found" and "Optional" respectively. It also happens to be the first track that I completed within Cakewalk, yet another freeware DAW I happen to get the hang of now. Metaphorically speaking I would assume for this song to be my transition into better music production. This is the true ending of "Centience."
